Signal & Study · The app

Privacy Policy

Last updated

Signal & Study is an ECG rhythm practice app for nurses, students and healthcare professionals, made by Erica Khalil, BSN RN. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and the choices you have.

Without an account

Everything you do in the app, including your answers, progress, flashcard reviews and settings, is stored on your phone. None of it is sent to us.

If you create an account

An account is optional. It carries your progress to your other devices and lets you back in after a new phone. When you create one, we store:

  • your email address, and your password, which our sign-in provider stores only in hashed form;
  • whether you chose to join the email list (the box starts unticked);
  • your practice progress so it can sync: for each strip and flashcard you have practised, how many times you answered it, which answers you chose, and when it is next due for review.

Your name, your settings and your session history stay on your phone either way.

Your account information is stored with Supabase, our database and sign-in provider, under access rules that let each account read and change only its own records. Supabase keeps standard security logs, such as the IP address used to sign in.

The email list

If you tick the box when you create an account, we may send you occasional emails about Signal & Study, and every one will include a way to unsubscribe. If you leave it unticked, we only email you about your account, for example to confirm your address or reset your password.

Purchases

Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed by Apple. We never see your payment card. We use RevenueCat to confirm what you have bought; RevenueCat receives a random identifier for your copy of the app, your purchase history from Apple, and basic technical details such as the app version and device type.

App updates

When the app opens it may check Expo, the service that delivers app updates, for a newer version. That check sends technical details such as the app version, your device platform and a random installation identifier. It does not include your progress or anything you typed.

What we do not do

  • No advertising.
  • No tracking across other companies’ apps or websites.
  • No selling or renting your information.
  • No camera, microphone, location, contacts or health data.

The app never asks for patient information and is not for real patient care.

Keeping and deleting your information

Your account information stays until you delete it. You can delete your account at any time in the app: open Profile, then Delete account. That removes your account, your email list choice and every synced record from our database. Progress saved on your phone stays there until you delete the app. You can also email us to ask for deletion or for a copy of your information.

Children

Signal & Study is made for adults in healthcare education. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your information, and to object to how it is used. Email us and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are used in California law.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. If a change affects information you have already given us, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
